We found that Ca2+ release from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is slowed but retained in astrocytes of IP3R2-KO mice. Using Ca2+ imaging within mitochondria, we found robust Ca2+ transfer from the ER to mitochondria upon norepinephrine stimulation in astrocytes. These results indicate that Ca2+ concentration in the immediate vicinity of the ER increases even in the absence of IP3R2.

Expansion of research team | 01 Sep 2018
Dr. Kazunori Kanemaru joined our laboratory on April 1 as associate professor. Furthermore, Mr. Yusuke Kawashima and Ms. Kazue Serizawa also joined our laboratory as research staff. Together with previous members (Masamitsu Iino, Isamu Taiko, and Kensuke Yabe), Division of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology is now equipped with a powerful research team.
